The role of technology in music has always been amongst us. At points in the past it could be argued that musical instrument manufacture developed the most sophisticated technology of its time, intertwining physics, mathematics, design and materials development.

In today’s world an artist can create, at nearly the highest production levels, in a studio apartment (or a large closet). And beyond that, artists can market themselves worldwide, often at little cost.

I have been able to avail myself of all this over the last six years with ipads and digital pianos of varying capabilities. It’s been unexpected… and satisfying.

I am grateful for it.
